Festivities in the Lake District

Are you visiting the Lakes this festive season? There are a number of Christmas markets and light switch-ons taking place across Cumbria that are great fun for all the family. Please find our festive event round up below and start planning your Christmas activities...


Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th November: Annual Winter Craft Fair at Brantwood

Brantwood's Winter Craft Fair is well known for showcasing the very best in local art and craft. Over 40 stalls will be in attendance including jewellery, textiles, woodwork, prints and cards as well as homemade Christmas cake and other festive treats.

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th November: Ulverston Dickensian Festival

Charles Dickens' famous tale 'A Christmas Carol' is brought to life in Ulverston Town Centre each year. With stall holders dressed in traditional Dickensian costume, live entertainment, delicious street food and the highlight of the festival - the grand parade. You'll find some fantastic Christmas gifts at the market so be prepared for a spot of Christmas shopping!

Sunday 26th November: The Masons Arms Christmas Market

Visit Strawberry Bank and find stalls filled with unique, local Christmas gifts. Make an afternoon of it and enjoy a mulled cider or two whilst enjoying the festive music.

Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd December: Hawkshead Christmas Fair & Beer Festival

With over 50 stalls, a lantern parade, seasonal food, local ales and live street music, Hawkshead Christmas Fair & Beer Festival is one not to be missed!

Saturday 2nd December: Milnthorpe's Christmas

Milnthorpe's Christmas is a great day out for families - with a huge array of market stalls for the adults and Santa's grotto and face painting for the kids!

Sunday 3rd December: Traditional Keswick Christmas Fayre

This Victorian Fayre is located just 30 minutes drive from The Daffodil. Stall holders will be dressed in traditional Victorian attire selling a selection of Christmas crafts and produce. There's live bands, a choir and entertainment for the children to ensure a fun-filled day out.

Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th December: Windermere Christmas Market

With over 40 local festive food and craft stalls, this Christmas celebration is located just 25 minutes drive from Grasmere. Live entertainment, cosy pubs and plenty of mulled wine awaits! Not forgetting a visit from Santa himself...

Friday 15th December: Cartmel Christmas Food Market

Stock up with your favourite local treats in time for Christmas or perhaps purchase some last minute gifts. Held in the famous Undworth's Yard, it would be rude not to sample a local ale from the yard itself, or enjoy some unique flavours from Cartmel Cheese!

Sunday 19th November: Kendal Christmas Lights Switch on

Sunday 19th November: Cockermouth Christmas Lights Switch on

Friday 24th November: Coniston Christmas Light Switch on
