Green at Heart Gold Award - 2018

As a luxury hotel based in The Lake District we are constantly working hard to preserve and protect our local landscape whilst providing our guests with an unforgettable Lake District experience. We are proud to say that for a third consecutive year we have been awarded with a Green at Heart Gold Award for our excellence in environmental practice.
Last year The Lake District National Park became internationally recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, meaning that our environmental efforts towards the preservation of The Lake District are now more important than ever. The Lake District joins a large group of well known protected destinations around the world such as Machu Picchu in Peru, Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Yellowstone National Park in North America.
Green at Heart | Reducing Energy Consumption
In order for us to maintain our Green at Heart Gold status we need to be environmentally aware and continue work to improve this. We also have certain requirements to meet which includes reducing our energy consumption. In order to achieve this, we use LED light bulbs where possible throughout the hotel and monitor the energy used in all areas of the hotel, including our bedrooms, Spa, restaurant and guest areas.
Green at Heart | Reducing our carbon footprint
Here at The Daffodil we are conscious of our carbon footprint and aim to minimise mileage as much as we can. From providing a minibus which offers staff an alternative way to and from work if they would like to use it, to using locally sourced produce throughout our seasonal menus.
We are delighted to have gained Gold status this year and will continue to strive towards improved environmental awareness and the preservation of the incredible Lake District National Park that we are so lucky to be based in.
