Before you start the wedding planning process, it's important to ensure you have a wedding checklist in place. This online checklist from Hitched is ideal as it allows you to tick of those to do's on the go!
As you have a 6 month wedding timeline, you will need decisions quickly. The first three items on the checklist are:
- Choose your wedding date
- Agree your budget
- Figure out your guest list
When it comes to wedding dates, you may have to be flexible as many of the key summer months and weekends get booked 1-2 years in advance. It's good to have a rough idea of dates with 3-4 options ready for looking at wedding venues. Agreeing your wedding budget at the beginning is vital, it allows you to stay on track from the very beginning. Figuring out your guest list and final numbers means that you have narrowed down venues before you even start the process of finding your dream venue (saving you previous time!).
BOOK YOUR WEDDING VENUE
You haven’t officially set your date until you confirm your booking with the venue so this is an important one to cross of the list early. With such a short timeline, an all-inclusive venue with wedding packages might be a good option, but be open to any venue with availability that can hold your guest numbers and is within budget. As you're planning to get married within the next 6 months, some venues may have late availability offers you can take advantage of. If your chose venue does not have an in-house caterer, now’s the time to book external caterers too.
If you have a lot of guests travelling to the wedding, or want the wedding party to stay at the venue it's important to get these booked as soon as possible.
CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING PARTY
It's time to ask your nearest and dearest to be a part of your big day! Asking them now gives them plenty of chance to arrange your Hen/ Stag do's. Perhaps more importantly, they will be able to help your through this planning process.

You could consider a high street wedding dress but remember you may still need a little time for alterations.
