EXPLORING BY FOOT

Nestled within the Lakeland valley, Grasmere is the ideal base for walkers. With a wide variety of hills on your doorstep, there is something suitable for everyone, from a short stroll to an all-day adventure. Enchanting woodlands and open fells fringe the beautiful lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water. The elevated walk along Loughrigg Terrace provides unrivalled views over both lakes, whilst Wordsworth’s Seat, to the north, enjoys fine views over Rydal Water.

Some classic fell walks can be enjoyed from Grasmere and Rydal, including Helm Crag and Fairfield Horseshoe. Other popular walks such as Easedale Tarn and Silver Howe and Alcock Tarn are highly recommended.
